The 60th National Film Festival begins in New Delhi today. All the National Award winning films for the year 2012 will be screened for the public during the festival.

Being organized by the Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at Siri Fort Auditorium Complex, 38 Feature Films and 19 Non-Feature Films will be screening during the 11 days festival.

As a mark of respect to the late Rituparno Ghosh, the festival will open with his award winning film Chitrangada(Bengali). He had won a Special Jury Award for the film for his excellent grasp of the medium of cinema and his multi-faceted versatility. Timbaktu, the non-feature film, directed by Rintu R Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh will also be screened today.

The other award winning feature films to be screened during the festival are Delhi Safari, Dekh Indian Circus, Chittagong, OMG Oh My God, Ishaqzaade, Bharath Stores, Paradesi, Gangs of Wasseypur, Filmistaan, Vicky Donor and Kahaani which are all Hindi movies.

The festival will also screen Shabdo (Bengali), Vishwaroopam (Tamil), Vazakkuenn 18/9 (Tamil), Kaliyachan (Malayalam), The Good Road (Gujarati), Leipaklei (Manipuri), Anumati (Marathi), Black forest (Malayalam), Celluloid (Malayalam), Talaash (Hindi), Samhita (Marathi), Investment (Marathi), Baandhon (Assamese), Ozhimuri (Malayalam).

Other movies to be screened include Thanichalla Njan (Malayalam), Nabar (Punjabi), 101 Chodhyangal (Malayalam), Annayum Rassolam (Malayalam), Ustad Hotel (Malayalam), Eega (Telugu), Harud (Urdu), Lessons in Forgetting (English), Dhag (Marathi) and Paan Singh Tomar (Hindi).

The other Non-Feature films  which will be screened during the festival are Kaatal, After Glow, Allah is Great, Inshallah Kashmir, I am Micro, Dreaming Taj Mahal, Celluloid Man,Cancer Katha, A pinch of Skin and many others.

Entry to the screenings is free and on first come first served basis.
