130 films to be part of ‘Viewing Room’: NFDC
The Film Bazaar, held alongside the International Film Festival of India (Iffi) in Goa, will present 130 films under the ‘Viewing Room’ project, that are in need of funding or distribution partners, National Film Development Corporation India says managing director Nina Lath Gupta.
The 8th edition of Film Bazaar will be held from November 20-24, 2014.
Viewing Room had begun with an aim to promote cinema in the international domain and was introduced in the Film Bazaar in 2011. In 2013, 111 films were presented in the Viewing Room, whereas this year, over 130 films will be presented.
The Viewing Room will include two new sections; World Cinema and Available for Remake. The World Cinema category comprises foreign language films that have won acclaim at major international film festivals and are looking at distribution and sales in South Asia. The Available for Remake (AFR) category consists of Indian and foreign language films that are available for remake in Indian languages.
The Viewing Room is just one of the many sections at Film Bazaar, the others being the Co-Production Market(where 32 potential projects of South Asian stories are available for co-production; Screenwriters’ Lab (where six original scripts mentored by international talents get ready for production and the NFDC Knowledge Series (which brings together renowned film industry experts to discuss trends, skills and techniques in the global film scenario.
