Around over 200 films on themes of wildlife and environment from at least 40 countries will be screened at the maiden Kolkata International Wildlife and Environment Film Festival (KIWEFF) to be held in October this year.

The two day festival, beginning on October 11 will focus on topics like human interaction with wildlife for conservation, wild life/birds and environment. Spanning across five venues in the city, films will be shown in five categories ; feature film, short film, animation film, documentaries and public service announcements.

In its inaugural edition, KIWEFF is partnering with Tinai Ecofilm Festival, Goa, for promotional activities and for sharing films. The competitive fest is open to professionals as well as amateurs.

French film, Baobabs between land and sea and Brazilian film, Awakening City will be screened at the festival which so far, have the highest entries from Iran.

The First Kolkata International Wildlife & Environment Film Festival (India) will be held in the month of October-2015 in the diverse city of Kolkata. KIWEFF represents the global concern of wildlife conservation.

The Film Festival will be held on 11-12 October, 2015, across multiple venues in Kolkata. Enthusiastic and dynamic filmmakers, local and international, fresh and seasoned will portray their work, selected from many entries. This event is inspired by our success in photography and canvas painting centered on nature-based themes over the last three years & tremendous popularity of our coloured nature newspaper “THE KHAIRI SIMILIPAL TIMES”.
