Anand L. Rai’s Raanjhanaa, said to be made at a budget of Rs.35 crore, released Friday across 14,00 screens in the country and 220-plus screens abroad and on its opening weekend.

The love story has grossed 31.5 crores worldwide in its opening weekend already. The movie collected over 65 lacs from 43 screens at UK, 2.5 crores from 102 screens in the US, 1.14 crores from UAE, 26 lacs from Australia making it a total of 5.07 crores from the overseas box-office in the opening weekend. Considering that the lead actor is a debutant, the numbers are remarkable.

While the movie is a hit nationally, Dhanush also pulled in masses from the south to the theaters. The turn out is massive in Tamil Nadu because people are looking forward to Dhanush’s acting in his debut Hindi film.

Not just Dhanush, the youthful Sonam kapoor is pulling in audience’s to the theaters with her earthy performance. Sonam’s acting in the movie has been appreciated and applauded by the industry, the audience and the critics equally.

Written by Himanshu Sharma, the film is produced by Krishika Lulla under the banner Eros International and the star cast also includes actors like Abhay Deol, Swara Bhaskar and Mohammed Zeeshan.

A love story with remarkable performances topped up with A.R Rahman’s melodious music is reason enough for the movie to entice the audience.
