18th IFFK’s opening show centenary of Indian Cinema!
The opening ceremony of the 18th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) will celebrate 100 glorious years of Indian cinema through a specially-designed stage show. Rajaputhra Ranjith, the choreographer and the producer, conceived a visual design of the history of Indian cinema in which around 100 artists will perform a 20 minute programme.
In an interview, Ranjith said that the challenge was to record a 10 decade old history within a limited time frame, beginning right from the origin to black and white era and later. He further added that it took more than two months to reach the last draft of the script.
All the performers are from Raack Academy of Dance, a Chennai-based dance company that is known for giving numerous performances all over the globe.
The eight day festival will start from 6 December 2013 in Kerala.
