Aashiqui 2 makes 100 crores

Aashiqui 2 has grossed 100 crore worldwide. The romantic film starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor is one of the year’s most successful ones keeping in mind the minimal budget is was made on.

Directed by Mohit Suri, Aashiqui 2 was produced by Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt under the banners T-Series and Vishesh Films.

Bhushan Kumar, CMD, T-Series has called it a landmark film with relatively new faces in the 100th year of Indian cinema.

Though the film was not very well received by critics, the word-of-mouth was extremely positive and the film worked with it’s target audience. Despite competition from films like Iron Man 3, it managed to maintain its hold on both overseas markets and Indian screens well. The movie earned over Rs.24 crore in its opening weekend and has steadily risen since then. The film however lags shortly behind the 100 crore mark in the domestic box office.
