Watch Rushes very carefully and remember your first responses to the images.

Organize the material with detailed logging and logical accessibility.

Engage with the theme and meaning of the film. Try to evolve a style that is consonant with the meaning.

While working on the minutiae of the cut do not forget the big picture. Be ready to disassemble everything and start afresh.

Being brutally honest with yourself and with your director is an absolute must.
