Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar announced their collaborative project, Kesari last October. The shoot for the film starts today. The actor shared the first look of the film on his social media earlier today and wrote, “Feeling nothing but immense pride and gratitude while sharing this. Beginning my 2018 with #KESARI, my most ambitious film and a lot of passion. Need your best wishes as always.”

Kesari is based on one of the bravest battles fought in India ‘The Battle of Saragarhi.’ Directed by Anurag Singh and starring Akshay Kumar. The film will release during Holi 2019. Kesari will be produced by Dharma Productions.

Ajay Devgn is already making a film on the same subject, and Randeep Hooda is also doing a film based on The Battle of Saragarhi, in which 21 Sikh soldiers fought 10,000 Afghans. Kesari is the third film on the same subject.

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar’s Padman,releases this Republic day.
