Imtiaz Ali Backs ‘Dekh Indian Circus’
An entertaining metaphor for rural India’s struggle to access the nation’s supposed economic miracle, Mangesh Hadawale’s ‘Dekh Indian Circus’ that went on to win 4 National Awards in the Best Children’s Film, Best Child Actor (Virendra Pratap), Special Jury Award (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) and Special Mention (Tannishtha Chatterjee) categories, has already won the hearts of several in the industry and here to spread the word is the presenter Imtiaz Ali, who was floored with the film and its characters, that take audiences through rural India’s struggle .
A popular director himself, Imtiaz Ali has decided to do his best to spread the word about the film. “I never thought I would present a film. I always believed I could only direct movies and that’s what I would continue to do. But when I watched DIC, I knew that this film deserved to reach every viewer in this country,” commented Imtiaz.
Presented by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Mahaveer Jain, Anil Lad, Chirag Shah and Vivek Oberoi, ‘Dekh Indian Circus’ also premiered at the 16th Busan International Film Festival in the New Currents section, opening to positive review from critics and winning the Audience Choice Award .
Confident about his product, Imtiaz said “I knew it had national and international accolades written all over it. It’s an entertaining and emotional movie that will definitely touch the audience’s hearts”.
The film stars Nawazzudin Siddiqui, Tannishtha Chatterjee and is directed by Mangesh Hadawale.
