‘Kar Gayi Chull’ wins Best Song of the Year award
‘Kar Gayi Chull’, the foot thumping number from Kapoor & Sons was awarded as the Best Song of the Year at the recently concluded Radio Mirchi Jubilee Awards.
‘Chull’ which was originally a Haryanvi song by singer and rapper Fazilpuria, featuring Badshah, was used in the Alia Bhatt – Siddharth Malhotra- Fawad Khan starrer.
“When we first launched the original song, everyone loved it, but through Kapoor and Sons it reached throughout India. Its popularity soared because it was used in a Bollywood film. We had expected it to become popular but did not guess that it would get such a great response, ki puri India main ‘chull’ ho jayegi,” said Fazilpuria on winning the award.
When quizzed about what worked for the song, Fazilpuria says, “The lyrics were very catchy, especially the word ‘chull’. We concentrated a lot on the rhyming and the composition.”
Going forward the singer would continue to promote his mother language, Haryanvi. “I’ve been doing Haryanvi songs from the beginning. And will continue to do so in the future as well. I have now set a benchmark with ‘Chull’ and will be competing with myself to keep doing better work.” But he is open to Bollywood too. “I’ve also composed a rap for the Randeep Hooda starrer Laal Rang that released some time back.”
He also has a solo releasing in August. “It is a Haryanvi folk song, which we have given a modern twist. I’m also launching a new singer called Priyanka with this song.” We do look forward to more such chartbuster tracks from the artist.
