Nil Battey Sannata to have both its Hindi and Tamil version
In a unique, first-of-its-kind move, Eros International, Colour Yellow Productions and Jar Pictures’ Nil Battey Sannata will have its Tamil remake Amma Kanakku, release on the same day, 22nd April, 2016.
While Tamil remake stars Amala and Revathi reprising the roles of Swara Bhaskar and Ratna Pathak Shah, both the films have been by the talented Ashwiny Tiwari Iyer.
According to sources, director Aanand L Rai, who is producing both the Hindi and Tamil version, decided to release Nil Battey Sannata and Amma Kanakku on the same day after discussing the same with actor-producer Dhanush ,who is the producer of the Tamil version.
“We have seen remakes of films releasing after a considerable gap from the release of the original film. There have also been bi-linguals shot at the same location and time, however, these two films adapt to two different cultures for the same storyline. The original, shot in Agra has the quintessential North flavour, whereas, the remake adapts the storyline into a south India setup and has been shot in Chennai,” informs a source.
Nil Battey Sannata is a lighthearted fun-filled exploration of a mother and daughter’s relationship. Both films will release 22nd April 2016.
