The AP Government on Saturday announced that the prestigious N.T. Rama Rao National Film Award for 2011 will go to Hindi film actor Amitabh Bachchan for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. A citation and Rs 5 lakh will be presented along with the award.

A committee comprising Telugu film personalities Tammareddi Bharadwaja, M. Balaiah and K. C. Sekhar Babu chose Amitabh Bachchan for the NT Rama Rao National Film Award for 2011 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. Filmmaker Shyam Benegal was named for the B.N. Reddy national film award, another filmmaker and Padmalaya studio owner G. Adiseshagiri Rao was selected for the Nagireddy-Chakrapani Award.

Tollywood veteran Kaikala Satyanarayana was selected for the Raghupati Venkaiah award. The awards will be presented on Ugadi along with Nandi Awards, the government said in a press release.
