Rosie is a very special role to me - Kareena Kapoor Khan

Kareena Kapoor

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Kapoor’s daughter, a leading actress of Bollywood and now Begum of Pataudi, Kareena Kapoor Khan lives up to all her titles with grace and confidence. Recently, in an event in the capital city, the actress made her appearance after the release of her latest film ‘Talaash’. Her performance in the film ‘Talaash’ has been much appreciated, and the Kapoor Khan is all set to work in her upcoming next i.e Prakash Jha’s ‘Satyagraha- Democracy Under Fire’ and Puneet Malhotra’s Untitled next. Here are a few excerpts from an interview with Kareena Kapoor Khan.

The Kapoor family is known as a first family of Indian Cinema.  It has four generations of the big stars. How do you deal being a part of it? Is there lot of pressure or expectations that come with it?

I think cinema is a part of our family. Sometimes I feel that I wouldn’t even know this opulence about the family because we are so caught up with our own daily lives and it is the moments like this  when we go out and face the audience, that we realise people have so much respect for us. It’s kind of overwhelming to know even that.

However, pressure is there of course. There are so many male talents in the industry. I think, over all, in our own ways; we are kind of taking the legacy of our family forward. Earlier it was only girls, that is Karisma and I, and I have always looked up to her. I am glad that now there is a man too in our family who is into acting. It’s all of us together. It’s over whelming; I don’t know whether I will ever live up to the names like Raj Kapoor and Prithvi Raj Kapoor.

Now the season of the film awards is about to begin. Which film do you think deserves an award this year?

I have only seen Kahaani. I really liked it. I would like to add the name of Talaash because it was a different film. I have not seen Barfi! but the performances I heard are good.

You have done four films this year. Out of those films, which performance of yours do you think is an award-winning performance?

I don’t think that I am any judge to decide which performance of mine is an award winning.  I work hard for every film. For me, Rosie has been a special role. It was interesting. The film like ‘Talaash” was one of its kinds in India. After a very long time, I had the opportunity to play the character like this. In 60’s, we had films like ‘Wo Kaun Thi’ and ‘Jewel Thief’, not for a while genre like that have we seen. Although, Rosie is a very special performance to me but I am nobody to judge it at all.

You have done an item song in Salman Khan’s upcoming film ‘Dabangg 2’. What would you like to say about it? What do you comment on the hype that has been created for the song?

I wish Salman all the best for Dabangg 2. We both enjoyed doing this item song called ‘Fevicol Se’. We had fun. I love dancing with Salman.

In fact, I love dancing. Dancing is all about energy and positivity. Of course, I am not as good dancer as Karisma is! Karisma is a hardcore professional when it comes to dance. I think dance is about fun also. All my songs that I do are close to me.
