Saankal to be screened at The International Indian Film Festival Toronto
Hindi film Saankal also known as Shackle has been selected to screen at the prestigious International Indian Film Festival Toronto to be held in October this year. Before this, the film received accolades and awards from all over the globe and was appreciated for exposing the dark face of Indian society.
Directed and written by Dedipya Joshii, the film brings light on the still followed malpractice of elder women forcefully marrying off to younger boys in the state of Rajasthan. It features Chetan Sharma, Tanima Bhattacharya, Harish Kumar, Jagat Singh, Samarth Shandilya and Milind Gunaji.
On hearing the news, director Dedipya Joshii shared his excitement by saying, “I am very happy that the film has been receiving loads of love from the global audience. We are waiting for the film to release in India soon. Abeera & Kesar ( Which is strongly portrayed by Ms. Tanima Bhattacharya & Mr. Chetan Sharma ) throw light to the malpractices which are still followed in the country. I am sure that the audience will love both the characters of Abeera & Kesar through their painful journey.”
Saankal has also been selected for special screening at Indian Film Fest of Ireland 2015.
