Some of the ever green classic songs such as ‘Kajra mohabbat wala’, ‘Mere piya gaye rangoon’, ‘Saiyan dil mein aana re’ that we love even today were sung by her. A nightingale of yesteryears, Shamshad Begum, who had been singing beautiful melodies since 1930’s to 1970’s, is no longer with us as she breathe her last breath on 23 April, 2013 at her residence in Mumbai after prolonged illness.
