Short Film produced by Indian wins 41st Student Academy Award
Border Patrol, a short film produced by Nishad Choughule, who is a final year student at the Northern Film School in Leeds (UK) has won the 41st Student Academy Award in the foreign-language category.
Border Patrol, written and directed by Peter Baumann of Germany, is a dark comedy with a sharp dose of horror. Set in the beautiful alpine woodland of Bavaria, the film has been made by a team of final year students of the Filmmakers’ MA at the Northern Film School in Leeds.
Three films have won the Student Oscars in this category: Border Patrol (UK), Nocebo (Germany) and Paris on the Water (Israel). The gold, silver and bronze medal placements will be revealed on June 7 at the awards ceremony in Hollywood.
The film was also named the Best International Short Film at the Beijing International Student Film and Video Festival.
The Academy established the Student Academy Awards in 1972 to support and encourage excellence in filmmaking at the collegiate level.
