Opening night, Jerusalem film festival 2013

Three films from India; Mumbai Cha Raja by Manjeet Singh, Monsoon Shootout by Amit Kumar and English Vinglish by Gauri Shinde will be screened in the “New Directors” section at the Jerusalem Film Festival.

The festival opened on July 4th and will continue till July 13, 2013. Founded in 1984, Jerusalem Film Festival will hold a Retrospective of Makhmalbaf and screen films like GabbehKandahar and The Gardener.

All three films shortlisted to screen at the festival are debut feature films of their directors.

Apart from the screening at the festival, the three films have received accolades from a number of places.

Manjeet Singh’s Mumbai Cha Raja has traveled to several film festivals including Toronto, Abu Dhabi and Fribourg.

Following its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, Amit Kumar’s Monsoon Shootout has been screened at Sydney and is scheduled to open the London Indian film Festival 2013.

English Vinglish starring Sridevi premiered at Toronto and was a runner-up at the Palm Springs International Film Festival recently.
