VJ turned actor Shenaz Treasurywala, known for roles like Alisha Sahay in Ishq Vishq and Sonia in Delhi Belly, is all set for her next Hollywood film titled ‘The Big Sick’. Shenaz was also part of Netflix’s series ‘Brown Nation’. In the past six years, the multi-talented actor has been part of numerous films and shows in Hollywood including ‘One Life to Live’ on ABC, ‘The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore’ on Comedy Central, etc.

The movie, scheduled to release on July 14, has an interesting cast comprising Kumail Nanjiani, Zoe Kazan, Holly Hunter, Ray Ramano, Anupam Kher and many more. Shenaz plays the Pakistani daughter-in-law of Anupam Kher in the film.

When asked about the film, Shenaz said, “The Big Sick is the story about two families, a Pakistani family and an American family. The Pakistani family has lived in America for a long time and tried to assimilate their Pakistani values and cultures but are still subject to racism in America because racism against brown people is still very prominent in America. This is a very good time for the movie to come out because of all that is happening in America right ow. I play a young Pakistani girl, Anupam Kher’s daughter-in-the law in the film.”

‘The Big Sick’ is based on the real courtship of lead actor Kumail Nanjiani from Silicon Valley and his wife.
