Niren Bhatt, who shot to fame with his much applauded tv show, Tarak Mehta ka Ulta Chasma and his first Gujarati film, Bey Yaar, is all geared up for his second script coming to life on the silver screen – Wrong Side Raju.

Bhatt who is a postgraduate in MTech and an MBA, left the security of his corporate job to pursue his passion for writing. The love for writing was cultivated through the early days under his maternal uncle. Bhatt shares, “I started as early as writing musical plays for my school and college, which won various awards at the local, state and national levels for both the script and the songs. I also wrote songs with my uncle Vinay Dave, we soon became a lyricist jodi and came up with many Gujarati albums.”

But as fate would have it, Bhatt’s educational pursue took him away from his passion. He relocated from Vadodara to Mumbai and then to Bengaluru. But as his destiny was etched, he came back to Mumbai. With a thought of connecting back with his true calling, this was the time, he gave his passion another shot. He started writing along side his day job. Niren who wrote a play and a couple of pilot episodes for various shows, started gaining popularity with Bhai bhaiya aur brother, Jini aur Juju and Savadhaan India. But his big break came with Tarak Mehta ka Ulta Chasma.  

After penning songs for Bollywood film Fugly, Niren went on to write his first Gujarati film Bey Yaar with his friend and partner Bhavesh Mandalia. Bey Yaar was one of the landmark films for Gujarati Cinema, which set the bar for new age, cutting edge stories in Gujarati films. As luck would have it, the success of Bey Yaar has been so infectious, that he is currently re writing the script in Hindi. He has a couple of other projects as lyricist lined up with music composer duo Sachin – Jigar, Monty Sharma and Darshan Raval to name a few.

As a screenwriter and lyricist, his next release is Wrong Side Raju, which is the first film to be produced and supported by one of the leading hindi films production house – Phantom. With the soundtrack composed by Sachin – Jigar, it promises to be the first edge of the seat drama in Gujarati cinema.

The film is a social thriller drama set against Gujarat’s biggest festival ‘Navratri’ revolving around a hit and run accident case. The film stars Pratik Gandhi | Asif Basra | Kavi Shastri | Hetal Puniwala | Kimberley Louisa McBeath.

The film is slated to release on 9th Sep, 2016.
