Can you imagine Bollywood without music? Well, on one can! For an industry as vibrant as Bollywood, music is a crucial entity and one of the most beautiful assets that make it stand out of the box globally. The era changes and with it so does the generation and taste of music.
While some music and musicians remain immortal, every year sees fresh talent take the industry by storm and create chartbuster tracks. 2016 is about to come to an end and with a new year, there is new talent waiting to impress you and make you fall in love with them all over again. Here’s our pick of young musicians who we cannot wait to get more of in 2017:
Amit Mishra
After blockbuster songs like ‘Sau Tarah Ke’ from Dishoom and ‘Manma Emotion Jaage’ from Dilwale, Amit Mishra made his mark in the industry with another die-hard romantic song ‘Bulleya’ from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. After sharing his talent for some of the top banners of the industries and a performance which is class apart, he will surely be someone we’d love to hear croon more in 2017.
Jasleen Royal
This singer, songwriter and music composer made her debut with ‘Preet’ from the film Khoobsurat. Jasleen has since come a long way having worked on projects like Baar Baar Dekho, Shivaay, and delivered a recent hit from Dear Zindagi. Her unique voice has not only made a special place in the hearts of the youth but is touching chords beyond across age groups. We bet you wish to hear more of her in 2017!
Palak Muchhal
Palak Muchhal has become a name to reckon with in Bollywood’s music industry in the past few years. Delivering hit songs from films including Aashiqui 2, Gabbar is Back, Hero, Kick, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sanam Re and more recently M.S.Dhoni – The Untold Story and Rustom, this young artist is creating a rage with her soulful voice which brings lyrics to life.
Siddharth Mahadevan
There is no denying the fact that sensational singer Siddharth Mahadevan has talent in his genes with a father like Shankar Mahadevan. But it is his own dedication towards music that has helped the young lad shine. Known for powerful songs like ‘Zinda’ and the title track of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, he has also lent his voice for ‘Malang’ from ‘Dhoom 3’ and recently captivated listeners with ‘Teen Gawah’ from Mirzya. We hope to hear more of this powerful voice in the coming year.
Jonita Gandhi
Indo-Canadian singer Jonita Gandhi was first noticed when her cover versions of Hindi film songs gained popularity on social media. She made her Bollywood playback debut with the title track of Chennai Express and followed it up with tracks in Highway and R…Rajkummar. She also sang songs like ‘Sau Tarah Ke’ from Dishoom, which was a hit, the title track of PINK and now the hugely popular The Break Up Song from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. She has over 4.5 million views on her YouTube channel with 40000 subscribers and over half a million followers on Facebook. What more do you need to love her and wait for more of her sensational songs?
Tanishk Bagchi
Tanishk Bagchi of the composer duo Tanishk-Vayu made his Bollywood debut with the blockbuster hit ‘Banno’ from Tanu Weds Manu Returns and followed it up with equally successful numbers like ‘Bolna’ from Kapoor & Sons, ‘Allah Hu Allah’ and ‘Rabba’ from Sarbjit among others. His beautiful and melodious compositions made us fall in love with his work.
Sukriti and Prakriti
When sisters Sukriti and Prakriti Kakar are on stage, they create magic with their voice. Prakriti began her career with popular songs like ‘Katra Katra’ from Alone and ‘Bheegh Loon’ from Khamoshiyan among others. While Sukriti shot to fame with the title song of Boss, ‘Rustom Vahi’ from Rustom and the latest party anthem, ‘Kar Gayi Chull’ from Kapoor & Sons which has crossed 100 million views and is still counting. If you love to tap your feet to ‘Kar Gayi Chull’, you owe it to Sukriti’s talent. Only they know what they’ll bring new for us in this New Year!
Jasmine Sandlas
Punjabi songwriter, singer and performer Jasmine Sandlas is one of the most loved independent artists of Punjab and has been earning fame in Bollywood as well. She made her Bollywood debut in 2014 with Kick’s super hit song ‘Yaar Na Miley’ and people are still not over her powerful voice and extremely bold attitude. In 2016, she gave two blockbuster hits for the movies One Night Stand and Zorawar. Hers would be one voice worth waiting for in 2017.
Amaal Mallik
With chart toppers from blockbuster films like Hero, Baar Baar Dekhio, Airlift, Sanam Re, Kapoor & Sons, Mastizaade, Sarbjit, Force 2 and many more, Amaal Mallik has emerged as one of the most loved music composers and singers of the generation. There is no doubt that music runs in his veins. After making a debut with Jai Ho and Khoobsurat, Amaal hasn’t stopped and 2017 promises to have more of his outstanding music.
