Lootera’s opening weekend at Box office
Vikramaditya Motwane-directed Lootera, produced by Balaji and Phantom, opened to a strong domestic collection of Rs. 5.15 crores on Friday. Even before its release, Its special première brought in a positive word of mouth on the film from the film industry which further built upon on social media and gave the film a successful opening weekend.
Continued Positive reviews resulted in a steady rise in the business in the range of 25-30% over the weekend. Early estimates indicate that the opening weekend collection would be in the range of Rs 19 cr; exemplary for a film with a defined audience and given a controlled urban multiplex release.
The Sonakshi Sinha and Ranverr Singh starer fared particularly well in Mumbai, Mysore, West Bengal and Pubjab. The gross collections in the opening weekend in the international markets are already over $700,000. (4.2 Crores)
Made at a total cost of 32 crores (including P&A), while major business has happened through non-theater sales, theater revenues have kept the regional sub-distributors happy and hugely augmented the film’s profitability.
