Belfast Mela includes Little Bollywood feature
Belfast Mela includes Little Bollywood feature for babies and young children, particularly designed to offer a fun family experience, keeping culture alive. A special show to be organised in Botanic Gardens, which would have The South Asian Dance Academy (SADA) in lead showcasing their talent with exciting costumes.
The concept was thought of by Mela founder Nisha Tandon who wanted to provide something specially for babies and young children at the annual cultural event. Bridging the gap between the two cultures, this is also a great way to bring something as popular as Bollywood into light. Nisha said the concept developed will include opportunities to dress up, experience Indian music and even introduce young children to yoga.
“It has been a collaborative effort from all the ArtsEkta team, everyone had their own ideas for how we could do this,” she added.
The Little Bollywood feature will include three sessions for kids of different age groups.
There will be Baby Bumpkin for tots up to 18 months old from 1.30-2pm; Tatty Bumpkin for children aged from 18 months to 5 years from 2.30-3pm, and the Family Multi-Sensory Yoga for children aged up to five years from 3.30-4pm.
There will also be a Glam Your Pram workshop, where the family will get a chance to enjoy decorating their baby’s pram with the support from Belfast’s Replay Theatre Company.
Every year, Belfast Mela attracts millions of visitors to experience the parade, music, dance performances, arts, crafts and a diverse range of food.
