Anubhuti Kashyap, sister of director Anurag Kashyap, has made a short film title Call Waiting.  The film is inspired by a 100 year old tale written by Dorothy Parker ‘A Telephone Call’.

Call Waiting is a 3 and a half minute film depicting an emotion every girl goes through during her 20s. The story is about a girl , played by Sayani Gupta, who is waiting for a call from her crush. In a way, the film also focuses on growing importance of telephone in ones life.

An interesting aspect of the film is the women-centric team as it’s produced by Guneet Monga, written by Swati Bhattacharya directed by Anubhuti and starring Sayani Gupta.

Sayani who wil alsol be seen in the upcoming SRK-starrer Fan says, “It’s a sweet film of a girl who is experiencing that feeling which all of us have gone through at some stage in our life. The plethora of thoughts that come to our mind while we are waiting for someone to reply or call. That strange feeling of being unsure, impatient, excited and restless. It’s a one woman piece, a single actor who is just expressing her current state of mind.”

“Guneet (Monga) asked me if I would be interested in doing a short film that was being directed by Anubhuti Kashyap and was written by Swati Bhattacharya, who recently became the first woman CCO of FCB Ulka in India. I have been hearing a lot about both these women and had already worked with Guneet for another short called Bunny. So I jumped at the offer and was more than happy to collaborate. We were barely 5 people running to various locations in one day to shoot this. We had no permission and it was shot completely guerrilla style.I like working in such a collaborative process as the work that comes out of such experiences is much more organic and fun. And filmmaking is all about the little magic that is born from collaboration.”
