Super Deluxe’s In Reality Wins the U.S. Fiction Special Mention Jury Award at the LA Film Festival
The LA Film Festival Jury has awarded In Reality, Ann Lupo’s unconventional exploration of love, with the U.S. Fiction Special Mention.
Super Deluxe’s first feature film In Reality won Special Jury Mention in U.S. Fiction at the 2018 LA Film Festival on Friday, making its fourth film festival win. This summer, the film also won Best Narrative Feature at the Port Townsend Film Festival in Washington State as well as Best Actress and the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Woods Hole Film Festival in Massachusetts.
Written and directed by and starring Ann Lupo, and produced by Holly Meehl, In Reality is an autobiographical rollercoaster ride through the fantastical mind of a young woman falling in and out of love.
“Its inherently independent spirit, coupled with an endearing lead and surprising plot from the first-time director Ann Lupo set itself apart from its competition,” writes the PT Leader.
“Ann Lupo’s feature debut is an example of what happens when you refuse to let adulthood destroy your creativity… Ann Lupo manages to reach an auteur status on par with Anna Biller as she functions as not only the lead actress, but also a director, writer, producer, and editor of her own feature,” writes CC2K.
