Allah is Great, Calcutta Taxi at Gulf Film Festival 2013
Two Indian short films will be screened at the 6th Gulf Film Festival to be held from April 11-17, 2013 in Dubai. The Gulf Film Festival is an annual non-profit cultural event that aims to celebrate the highest standards of Gulf cinema.
Allah is Great by Andrea Iannetta is part of the official International Short Competition. It revolves around Frank Asmas, a Danish engineer who meets Salim, a taxi driver, when he is on his way out of a remote Indian village to Nairobi. Coming from different worlds, their journey together results in mayhem.
The film won a Special Jury award at the 60th National awards announced recently.
Calcutta Taxi (India-Canada) by Vikram Dasgupta will be screened in Intersections section. The film is set against the grimy backdrop of a city going through a political crisis and unravels the story of three lives that coincide and affect each other.
