Anu Malik and Asha Bhosle are coming together to create music for Begum Jaan starring Vidya Balan. The film, set in the pre-Independence era, will be directed by National Award winner Bengali director Srijit Mukherjee who is making his directorial debut in the Hindi film industry.

The film Produced by Mahesh Bhatt is about the trauma of displaced women in a brothel during the time of Partition. Vidya Balan plays the madame of the brothel.
It has been more than a decade ago that Anu Malik and Asha bhosle came together for aa film and not only this, it has also been more than a decade since Vishesh Films has worked with Anu Malik or Asha Bhosle.

Earlier this week, Anu Malik who was hospitalized due to cardiac arrest, met Ashaji in hospital to talk to her about the songs so that the work happens on schedule and doesn’t get delayed due to his ill health.

The shoot is expected to start from mid June in Kolkata where a huge set is being erected.
