Ashvin Kumar’s new project Kashmir (Noor) has been selected for the Independent Film Week 2013, the Project Forum of the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP).

The project will be presented in No Borders International Co-Production Market, the premier U.S. forum for buyers, sales agents and financiers to meet with established, international independent producers presenting  42 new, narrative feature projects in late stage of development.

Kashmir written, directed, and produced by Ashvin Kumar revolves around ten year old Noor whose father disappeared after the Indian army arrested him in war-torn Kashmir. But when she goes looking for him, she stumbles upon mass-graves that implicate the Indian army. When her story makes national news, she herself is arrested and made to disappear.

This will be the third part of a trilogy and Ashvin’s first fiction feature about Kashmir; after Inshallah, Football and Inshallah, Kashmir both received a National award  in 2012 and 2013.

Kashmir (Noor) was also a  part of NFDC’s Film Bazaar last year.

Independent Film Week will be held from September 15-19, 2013 at Lincoln Center in New York. After debuting  in 1979 at the New York Film Festival, IFP has evolved into USA’s oldest and largest organization of independent filmmakers.
