The 10th edition of the International Association of Women in Radio and Television (IAWRT) Asian Women’s Film Festival India has announced its programme. The festival will be held at India International Center and Max Mueller Bhawan in New Delhi, from March 5-8.

A total of 23 films from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Japan, India, Israel, Lebanon, Myanmar, South Korea and the United Kingdom will be screened over the course of four days. Some of the films include Sunanda Bhat’s Have You Seen the Arana?, Batul Moradi’s Carpet Weavers and Hu Tai-Li’s Voices of Orchid Island among others.

There is a special section on ‘Films on Sri Lanka’- curated by Subasri Krishnan, and four films will be screened as part of this section. There will also be a panel discussion with two visiting Sri Lankan filmmakers, Sumathy Sivamohan and Anomaa Rajakaruna.

The ‘Soundphiles’ section of the festival comprises works by filmmakers, artists, journalists and media/arts students featuring narrative stories, music and ‘pieces that transport the listener into a world built only through sound’.

Held every year to celebrate International Women’s Day, the festival showcases the works of women directors of Asian origin in a range of genres—documentary, animation, short fiction, feature fiction, experimental and television reportage. While being a women’s festival, it is not restrictive in any way as far as subjects of films are concerned.
