The countdown for the 13th edition of the Mumbai International Film Festival, MIFF 2014 has begun with the organizers Films Division, calling for entries from eligible documentary, short and animation film makers. The Festival will be held at the National Centre for Performing Arts, NCPA in Mumbai from February 3-9, 2014.

The Festival is call for entries for film-makers in the following categories:
Documentary films at most 40 minutes long
Documentary films above 40 minutes
Short fiction films of  length 40 minutes or less and animation films category in the International competition.

In the Indian Competition Section, entries are invited for Documentary films upto 40 minutes, Documentary films above 40 minutes and  Short fiction films upto 40 minutes. There is also a special competition for Indian Film makers in the category of short animation films and up to 3 minute new media film shot on mobile phone, tablet PC, webcam or handy-cam.
In the National Competition section, the regular cut off date for submission of films made between September 1, 2011 to June 30, 2013 is August 31, 2013.  The Late cut-off date for films made between July 1, 2013 and August 31, 2013 is September 20, 2013.
The regular deadline for films in the International category is September 20, 2013 and the late deadline is October 15, 2013.
The regular entry fee for Indian film makers is Rs 1000 and for foreign film makers it is US$ 50.  Entries of films made between September 1, 2011 to June 30, 2013 can be submitted up to late cut off dates by paying a late fee of Rs 2000 for Indian film makers and US $ 75 for foreign film makers. The entries for MIFF 2014 competitions will be selected through two-tier jury system.
MIFF distributes awards over Rs 60 lakhs  in the International Competition section, National Competition Section, including Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari Award and the IDPA Award.  Technical awards for Best Cameraperson, Best Editor, Best Sound Recordist have been introduced during MIFF 2014.  The ‘Golden Conch’ of MIFF is regarded as one of the coveted awards in the documentary film making in India and abroad.
The ‘Dr V Shantaram Life Time Achievement Award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 5,00,000 will also be given away to an eminent person for his / her contribution to the documentary film movement.
