Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chennai Express  is lined up for a strong release in non-traditional international markets. The movie is set to release in Seven new countries that are not particularly a Bollywood Film’s immediate release destination.

In Peru, it is said to be the first Hindi film to release on the same day as it hits theaters in India. 

Earlier, Shah Rukh’s My Name Is Khan and actor Hrithik Roshan’s Guzaarish opened as delayed releases in Peru. But “Chennai Express” is making a breakthrough.

Apart from Peru, the Rohit Shetty-directorial rom-com has been locked for release in Morocco, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and Israel.

“Shah Rukh Khan has a strong fan base and the demand for the movie is enormous overseas. We are releasing the movie in over seven non-traditional markets and the movie will also witness a day and date release for the first time in Peru for any Hindi film,” Amrita Pandey, executive director (Syndication, International Distribution and Disney Media Distribution), Studios, Disney UTV, said in a statement.

The screen count of film hasn’t been revealed so far but it will most likely cross 4200 including both India and the overseas.

The film will also have the biggest U.K release ever and the highly promoted Rohit Shetty film will be screened across 125 theaters and around 170 screens. In total overseas screens of the film will easily be over 650 which will be biggest ever for a Bollywood film.

Starring Deepika Padukone opposite Shah Rukh Khan, Chennai Express is set to release worldwide on 9 August on the eve of Eid.
