Deepika Padukone has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI). The leading actress was voted for the position at a recent Jio MAMI meeting. Former Chairperson Kiran Rao stepped down from the position to place her focus on an upcoming film project.

The Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI) is a public trust that organizes the annual international film festival in Mumbai known as the Mumbai Film Festival (MFF).

The Trustees of MAMI include respectable members of the film industry – Ashutosh Gowarikar, Late. Yash Chopra, Jaya Bachchan, Amol Palekar, Shabana Azmi, Amit Khanna, Karan Johar and Farhan Akhtar.
