Distance, a short film directed by Yashaswini Raghunandan and Ekta Mittal has won the Golden Dove Award at the 56th International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Films known as DOK Leipzig. The award comprises a cash component of Euro 3,000.

The film traces boys on a construction site in Bangalore city, who in-turn are tracing their dreams, their identities. Ekta Mittal is a graduate in Social Communication Media from Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai. Yashaswini Raghunandan is an independent filmmaker who assisted Deepa Bhatia in Nero’s Guests.

Distance was one among the six Indian documentary projects that underwent a year-long training programme called DocWok and were presented to an industry audience during the festival from October 28 –November 3, 2013.
