Eros International and Endemol India announce strategic alliance
Film entertainment company, Eros International Media today formed a strategic alliance with content producer Endemol India. The alliance will spend Rs 100 crore and co-produce three feature films and original content for television.
The alliance will produce the remake of a South Indian blockbuster movie, an original romantic comedy and a comic caper. The first film out of this stable would be a romantic comedy, which will go on floors later this year.
Many of Eros-owned film Intellectual Property Rights will be considered for adaptation for the TV format and vice versa.
“We are really excited to be partnering with Endemol India… The alliance is founded on the coming together of our respective core competencies in film and television,” Jyoti Deshpande, Executive Director, Eros International Media Ltd, said in a statement.
Endemol India produced popular TV reality shows like Bigg Boss and Fear Factor. Eros too holds a library of close to 2,000 films, along with its recently successful movies like English Vinglish and Vicky Donor.
Both these companies are exploring new formats for TV programming, to create high-end scripted content for the Indian television audiences.
“After successfully producing content for some of the biggest format shows in the country, we are expanding our portfolio to films and are delighted to partner with leaders in this space. Through this association, we look forward to making a mark on the big screen as well,” said Deepak Dhar, chief executive officer of Endemol India.
