Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari popularly known as Film City, Mumbai, is bringing 10 Marathi films (Sairat, Natsamrāt, Half Ticket, Double Seat, Halal, Katyar Kaljat Ghusali, Bernie, Saha Gun, Daagdi Chaawl and Koti ) to the 10th edition of NFDC Film Bazaar.

This is the second time in a row that Film City is collaborating with Film Bazaar which will be held in Goa from November 20th to 24th 2016.

As part of the association, these ten Marathi Films will be screened in the Industry Screenings and the Viewing Room sections of the Bazaar. The producers of the ten Marathi Films will also take part in the Producers’ Lab. In addition to this, Film City will also set up a Film Office at the Film Bazaar 2016.

NFDC spokesperson says,“ After a successful association last year, we are delighted to have Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagri (Filmcity) back at the Film Bazaar this year with critically and commercially acclaimed films like Sairaat and Natsamrat.”

Shri. Laxmikant Deshmukh, MD, Filmcity Mumbai says, “Today Marathi films are watched by people who don’t even speak Marathi. The reach of Marathi cinema is increasing day by day. But still Producers of Marathi films are not earning substantial profits. Our aim at Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari (Filmcity, Mumbai) is to facilitate complete growth of the Marathi film industry. To accomplish this goal we have decided to get 10 Marathi films to NFDC’s Film Bazaar, as it is a perfect platform to get these films to national and international producers notice. We are very excited to be a part of Film Bazaar 2016.”

Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation Limited, Dadasaheb Phalke Citranagari (Film City) and Department of Cultural Affair along with Government of Maharashtra are participating with ten selected Marathi films. These films have been approved and selected by the selection committee of the Department of Cultural Affair.

Film City will also be showcasing a variety of shoot locations in a Film Office at the Bazaar this year. Introduced in 2014, the Film Offices is a section of Film Bazaar where one-on-one meetings are scheduled by the Film Bazaar team for the Tourism Boards/Film Commission officials with Indian as well as International Producers/Filmmakers attending the Bazaar. The aim is to ensure that the Film Offices are able to pitch their locations to all leading filmmakers.

The ten producers of these Marathi Films will also be part of the Producers’ Lab which was set up at Film Bazaar in 2013 to provide the necessary skill sets to aspiring & upcoming Producers and to keep them abreast of the technologies and best practices available to fully exploit the potential of a film. Producers are the bridge between the creative and financial aspects of the business and they are essential in maintaining a fine balance between the two. The Producers Lab has been designed keeping the same in mind.

Industry screenings are held at the market venue in three digital theatres equipped with optimized screens and hi-end sound system. The section gives producers an opportunity to showcase their films to the attending Buyers, Sales Agents and Festival Directors/ Programmers. Films are screened in Digital formats only, and bookings are made on first-come, first-served basis.

‘The Viewing Room’ introduced in 2011 at the Film Bazaar, presents films that seek finishing funds, world sales, distribution partners and festivals. Here, festival programmers, distributors, world sales agents and financiers watch both complete as well as incomplete  films, access their details and contact the director or producer. These films are viewed on individual computer terminals in private booths via the specially designed Viewing Room software. The Viewing Room allows access only to buyers, financiers, world sales agents and festival programmers.
