“Gulabi Gang”, directed by Nishtha Jain, produced by Piraya Film in Norway and co-produced by Final Cut for Real, won the The Amnesty International Award at  the 10th PLANETE+ DOC FILM FESTIVAL in Poland.

In the competition for the best film about human rights, the jury, comprising of Draginja Nadaždin, Tadeusz Sobolewski, and Mirosław Chojecki, gave the award alongwith a EUR 3000 prize, to “Gulabi Gang” for “an inspiring, moving film about women from the rural areas of southern India who, against traditional social divisions and despite their lack of education, find the courage to push back against violence towards women, and other forms of human rights abuse”.

On 18th May 2013, during the awards ceremony at Warsaw’s Kinoteka, the winners of the 10th PLANETE+ DOC FILM FESTIVAL were announced. One of the most important documentary film festivals in Europe, it takes place on 10th-19th May in Warsaw, on 12th-19th May in Wroclaw, and on 17th-19th in 20 cities throughout Poland during the “PLANETE+ DOC weekend”.
