Your last venture Pyaar Ka Punchnama received a lot of appreciation from the youth, and the sequel’s promo looks equally promising. What is the excitement meter for this new rom-com like?

It’s definitely exciting and that’s the reason we have returned with a fresh plot. The audience really liked Pyaar ka Punchnama and appreciated, which gave us the excitement and thrill to go for another ride. So, definitely the fun is more this time and yes, break ups will surely happen in this film too. (laughs)

How different is this film from the last one in terms of the plot and concept?

It’s definitely better than the last one. Love is something that comes with different circumstances and consequences for different age groups. In Pyaar Ka Punchnama, the characters had just graduated from college and were a bunch of 21-year-olds, but this time they are a little older than that. So the situations and the problems of their relationships are different.

People really liked the music of Pyaar ka Punchnama. Could you tell us something about the music of Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2?

The music is very refreshing and commercial. The album of Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 is going to be a hit in all the clubs and parties. And most importantly, it will connect well with the youngsters.

You played one of the leads in the first film and are part of the sequel too. Is your character in Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 different from the one you portrayed in the former? And how?

Yes, it’s definitely different. In Pyaar Ka Punchnama, my character was reserved and an introvert. I was supposed to be very conscious with my friends and girlfriend alike. But this time my character, Gogo, is a person with style and attitude. He parties hard and has already been in many relationships. But Gogo then gets committed to a girl and how things change for him is portrayed in the film.

So basically its a fresh plot and totally different from the last one?

Obviously there are changes in the plot but the concept is almost the same – how we boys suffer when we get into a relationship. (laughs)

You are the only male lead that has been part of both films. Tell us about your bond with the new male leads, Omkar Kapoor and Sunny Singh?

The connections between the characters really matter for scripts like these. Its all about good timing. My rapport with Omkar and Sunny is really great and equally strong, like it was with Divyendu (Sharma) and Rayo (Bakhirta). Both of them are fabulous actors. And I feel that there is no fun if there is no bond between co-actors. We spent a good amount of time together before the start of the shoot and were already good friends while shooting, which certainly helps to deliver humor at the right place.

This is your third film with Nushrat Bharucha after Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Akaash Vani. What kind of chemistry do you’ll share?

Yes, this is my third film with Nushrat and she is a fabulous girl & actor. The dedication with which she plays her character of today’s girl is commendable. Her approach towards each character is so fresh that every time we worked together, I felt as though I’m working with a new co-actor. I love working with her and would love to work with her in the future too.

Though the industry has become very star-kid driven, several fresh faces are being introduced through new directors. Your views on it?

I think this is the best time for all new actors to get into the industry. In this era, everyone is getting good opportunities as there are a lot of new directors and producers. Today even the biggest directors and producers are giving fresh talents a chance, so it’s not about being a star kid as the opportunities are same for all. Even they have to work equally hard.

You have been associated with the industry since your childhood. I’ve grown up with your song ‘Chota bachchaa jaan ke humko. You’ve done great work in films like Masoom, Judaai, Judwaa etc. Tell us about your journey.

It has been a long journey. I’ve been a child actor for the longest period of time and have worked with the best of directors. I did films like Masoom, Judaai, Judwaa, Ghoonghat, Chaahat etc. and then took a break to finish my education. I also wanted to learn about things that happen behind the camera. So I worked as an Assistant Director and assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Sawaariyan and Farah Khan in Tees Maar Khan. Now here I am as a lead in Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2. It’s like my second innings and it’s a great feeling.

Tell us about your character in Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2.

I play Thakur who is a completely new character. He is also in love, just like the other two boys, and has his own journey and relationship problems.

How was it working with Director Luv Ranjan?

Luv is a brilliant director. He is very sensible and sensitive towards actors and helps them deliver their best performances.

Did this role require a lot of improvisation or was it more of a script-oriented act?

Luv was very kind to give me the freedom to play the character in the manner that I wanted to. We didn’t have to rehearse a lot before performing. We would just come on the sets and perform like we knew the core of the script by heart. It was a fun experience as the acting was very natural. Luv would definitely improvise and correct me whenever needed. It was a great experience altogether.

You were a part of Pyaar Ka Punchnama and now feature in Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 as well. Tell us about your character in this film.

I play Kusum who is this sweet, innocent girl who loves her guy a lot but he doesn’t understand her love. And whether he finally understands it or not is something that you will have to come to the theaters and discover. (smiles)

How different is your role from that in the previous film?

In the first part my character, Charu, was not in love. Liquid (Divyendu Sharma) used to think that Charu loved him but throughout the film she was trying to explain that he was just a friend to her. But Kusum actually loves her guy.

How was it working with the same team?

It was really fun to work with almost the same team. While working with the same people, you build a chemistry and a comfort level. And that is very helpful while working on a fun film that requires high energy in the performance. I hope that audiences will experience the same fun and enjoy the film.
