Nitin Kakkar’s National Award-winning film Filmistaan showed a major growth by earning over Rs.1 crore on the second and third day of its release, while action titan Akshay Kumar starrer Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty has received very good opening at the box office on first weekend.

Filmistaan that explores India-Pakistan relationship with comic elements didn’t get an overwhelming opening, but on the second and third day the business doubled taking the total to Rs.2.81 crore.

Filmistaan, a low budget movie that does not boast of a big star cast collected Rs.51 lakh on Friday, Rs.1.04 crore on Saturday and Rs.1.26 crore on Sunday.

The movie featuring Sharib Hashmi and Inaamulhaq has also been supported by celebrities like Amitabh Bacchan  and Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

A.R. Murugadoss’ second Hindi directorial Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty also released on June 6 and the actioner has got a good response. The film also starring Sonakshi Sinha has collected Rs.41.32 crore on its opening weekend.

The film witnessed a major growth on Sunday. On Friday it collected Rs.12.18 crore, on Saturday Rs.12.30 crore and on Sunday Rs.16.80 crore.

Even though the movie has had a brilliant box office collection in its Oversees market but the movie hasn’t done brilliantly well compared to Akshay Kumar’s previous releases like Rowdy Rathore and Boss.
