Image l Labour of Love l BengaliDirected by debut feature filmmaker Aditya Vikram Sengupta and produced by Jonaki Bhattacharya ( For Films) and Sanjay Shah (Salaam Cinema), Indian independent film, Labour Of Love (Bengali-Drama), has been selected as part of Venice Days – the autonomous section of Venice International Film Festival, modelled on the prestigious Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes Film Festival. The film is competing for the Venice Days Jury Award, Venice Days Public Award, and Award for the First Feature (Luigi De Laurentiis Award – Lion of the future)​.

The selection comes as an announcement of the official line-up at the press conference held at Venice this morning (EST).

Labour of Love is the debut film for both the director and the two production companies. Producer Sanjay Shah previously worked on Ashim Ahluwalia’s critically acclaimed “Miss Lovely”.

Set in the crumbling environs of Calcutta, Labour Of Love is a lyrical unfolding of two ordinary lives suspended in the duress of a spiralling recession starring actor Ritwick Chakraborty and actress Basabdutta Chatterjee, and cinematography by Mahendra Shetty (claim to fame – Udaan and Lootera)
