Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar – A Walk Down Memory Lane
The entire cast of Mansoor Khan’s Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar reunited after 24 years at Movie Mela.
Actor Aamir Khan talked about the difficulties that they faced while making the movie. “This was one of my hardest films. We shot for 60 days and completed the film on schedule. Later, when I was shooting in Ooty, Mansoor called and told me that there was a problem. The girl who was playing Devika’s character did not appear right for the part, so we had to re-shoot all her scenes. We went back to work and two months later the actress who was playing Ayesha Jhulka’s part said that she couldn’t do the film. So 50 percent of the film was gone. Later there were problems with Milind (Soman) and gang. Since we were re-shooting most of the film, I told Mansoor that we should just redo the entire film. Ultimately, we reshot all of the 60 days, which was very difficult because we had scenes that were really difficult to recreate.”
Mansoor Khan added, “I was almost on the verge of a nervous breakdown. But then Aamir said something that I will never forget. He said that we are making a timeless film, so it doesn’t matter what it takes, we have to do it.”
Talking about the movie, the director also said, “This is not a sports film; I made this film at a time when I was feeling like a loser, so the movie was about working hard and winning.”
The cast and crew had many interesting stories that ranged from Mansoor Khan’s outburst to playful banters and Aamir Khan’s pranks. The one thing that they all agreed on was that 24 years ago, this film changed their lives.
