After completely giving 2016 a skip, Kangana Ranaut will be seen in two movies in 2017. One of these will be Simran, a drama based on a real-life incident. The movie is directed by Hansal Mehta, and also stars Rajkummar Rao, with a script by Apurva Asrani. Producer Shailendra Singh took to Twitter to announce the release date of the movie which would be September 17th of next year.

Kangana Ranaut in Simran

Interestingly Kangana Ranaut will not be playing Simran in the movie, instead her character is supposed to be called Praful Patel. Knowing how good Kangana does in off beat movie, are we seeing yet another chance for her to bag her next National award? She won her first National award as the Best Supporting Actress for Fashion and later won the Best Actress award twice for roles in Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns.

Kangana Ranaut will also be seen in Rangoon next year directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, where she will be sharing screen space with Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan for the first time.
