Independent Indian film Labour Of Love (Bengali Title: Asha Jaoar Maajhe), the debut feature by Aditya Vikram Sengupta, has been selected in the Official Competition for the 14th edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival. It is the only Indian film in competition this year.

Labour Of Love had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September 2014 where it won the FEDEORA Award for Best Film by a Debut Director. The film has gone on to feature at several other festivals including Busan and London.

At the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, Labour Of Love was awarded a Special Mention by the Jury. The film also received an Honourable Mention at the London Film Festival.

Featuring Ritwick Chakraborty and Basabdutta Chatterjee, the film has been produced by Jonaki Bhattacharya and Aditya Vikram Sengupta of For Films. Labour Of Love marks the debut of  the production company as well.

Set in the crumbling environs of Calcutta, Labour Of Love is a lyrical unfolding of two ordinary lives suspended in the duress of a spiralling recession.

Aditya Vikram Sengupta studied at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad. His earlier short films have been screened at various festivals around the world including festivals in Berlin, Paris, Sao Paulo and Zagreb. He also works on making commercial ad films.

The 2014 edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival will be held from December 5 – 13, 2014.
