Kans is back on dharti as a malicious ruffian and Krishna has followed him here from swarg. Although there aren’t any Fast and the Furious style car chases here, the seething moral chase between the thundering and lumbering wagons of good and evil is definitely on. The end, as we all know, is going to take place in Krishna’s favour and the blumbering lout, Kans, is going to receive the boot. Ajay Kashyap’s Main Krishna Hoon weaves in this myth with the story of a devout and happy middle-class family battling it out in trying situations. We get to see Krishna both in spirit and as an avataar when seated in the body of a young boy. Lots of dhishumdhishum follows between this boy and the principal Bihari speaking malware and his cronies. Unhappy Xenophobia, wipe your tears, darling! Made with an intention of catching the school-going young and peppy, Main Krishna Hoon is an allegorical film that advocates the populist values of self-righteousness and resting faith in the divine in a digital, Max Payne age. In that sense, it is just the film which dear old Mrs. Iyer will have her chunni-munni watch in an entertainment climate that doesn’t have Ravi Chopra’s Mahabharat and Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan as the guiding light of every Sunday. Whether Main Krishna Hoon rises above its oft-beaten track and intentions to claim some piece of distinct cinematic wonderment remains to be seen.
