Directed by Pradeep Sarkar, Mardaani is full fleged Drama feature produced by Aditya Chopra of  Yash Raj Films staring Rani Mukerji in the lead role.
Rani plays a bold and fearless cop in the film, she plays Shivani Shivaji Roy, an officer of the Mumbai Crime Branch unit. Her character seems to be no-nonsense. Earlier when the film’s poster was launched, YRF said “Rani’s character Shivani is deft at picking up hidden clues and fearless in confronting hardened criminals.”

The film’s story takes an interesting curve when a teenage girl is kidnapped by the child trafficking mafia and smuggled outside the city. Shivani then embarks on a relentless hunt for the girl and what follows is a cat and mouse game between the fearless cop and a ruthless mafia kingpin.

The film is slated to release on August 22, 2014.
