Monica Tata appointed MD, HBO India
Monica Tata has been appointed as the managing director for HBO, the English movie channel from Turner International. She will be based in Mumbai and will report to Jonathan Spark, CEO, HBO Asia.
She will be responsible for introducing and developing various initiatives to enhance the company’s offerings in India and its subcontinent including providing strategic direction and managing partner relationships.
In November 2012, Tata had quit Turner International India. She was serving in the capacity of general manager, Entertainment Networks South Asia, Turner International India. She joined Turner International India in 2004 as vice president, advertising sales.
Tata has over 23 years of media experience. She started her career with Sunday Mail as marketing executive in 1991. After spending about two years in the company, she moved on to join STAR India. She stayed with the group for about 12 years and moved on as senior vice-president to join Turner International as vice-president, advertising sales, in 2004.
In India, there are three movie channels – HBO, HBO DEFINED and HBO HITS in SD and HD formats. HBO Asia is a joint venture of HBO (a Time Warner company) and Paramount.
