As an upcoming director, it is important to let go of all your inhibitions. Be open to learning new things every day and think at the drop of a hat. Here are a few key points that will help you in your journey.

Just go out and do it! If you have an idea (big or small), put it together as best you can. Procrastination doesn’t help anybody.

Have your influences. There is so much to learn from good (and bad) work. Have a favorite director / collective. Study their styles, their technique and their quirks.

Learn to edit. It’s the most important discipline to have.

Obsess about everything and then sit back and learn to look at your piece of work objectively.

Learn to say ‘I don’t know that but am going to go all out and learn it’
