Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma starer PK that probably failed to live up to expectations as far as the opening day is concerned, but the film more than made up for it by amassing 30.34 crore on the Day 2 and over  38.24 crore in box office collections on Day 3 (Sunday).

Aamir Khan is in a race with himself as he broke the all-time Day 3 record set by Dhoom 3 ( 38.03 crore). This year’s biggest opening film Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year made 31.06 crore on the first Sunday while 2014’s biggest grosser Salman Khan starer Kick grossed over  30.18 crore.

Though PK has failed to enter the Rs 100 crore club in three days, a record achieved by only Dhoom 3 and HNY, it will definitely reach the coveted mark on Day 4 to join the rank of Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish 3 and SRK’s Chennai Express.

Amir’s 500 crore + hit movie, which released during the festive season of Christmas last year, collected 188.99 crore in the first week, holds the top spot. This is followed by Salman Khan’s Eid release of this year, Kick, which has collected Rs. 164.09 crore. One the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan’s HNY and Chennai Express, which also released during Eid, witnessed a much lower growth in comparison, collecting  157.57 crore and  156.7 crore respectively.
