There are two aspects, one is writing and the other is becoming successful.

For the first one I would say –

There is absolutely no glamour in it. So write only if you want to really write, not expecting a Filmfare out of it. Better do something else if you expect that glamour rather than just the pleasure of writing.

Your favourite place in the world should be the laptop or paper-pen, whatever you prefer. Keep staring at it, things will come. You have no choice here.

We live in the web world so even if you don’t have money for courses you can still learn everything online. Learning the technicalities of how to present, write a script, the format, the intricacies and nuances is better than struggling at your job and getting fired for it. Learning the ‘Basics’ of your job is needed. You have to be respectful towards somebody reading your script. You have to make the script technically readable too. You HAVE to learn how to write a screenplay page.

The experienced writers ratio is 1 script out of our 10 scripts getting accepted. So a new writer has to write 20 at least for one script to be made.

Coming to the Second part of becoming ‘successful’.

Now that is dependent on factors like chance, exposure, ability as a human being, opportunities, how good your social skills are, how you are as a person, destiny and many such things out of one’s hands. So better just get writing. That’s most important.
