“However, the relevant premise (an underdog’s fight for survival) gets marred by an ineffective performance from the protagonist and inconsistency in the pace, character buildup and narrative. The storytelling fails to evoke a sense of urgency that the character should ideally portray. Everything seems hunky-dory, with unnecessary songs plugged in, until characters get randomly killed. The film has a good concept but lacks the vibrancy and spirit of the city it is set in. Overall, it faces ‘connectivity’ issues.

While Anupam, Rhea and Ali are convincing for most parts of their roles, everybody else in the film seems to be sleep-walking through their roles. A few romantic scenes between Rhea and Ali only add to the drag and soon you are left wondering if you deserved this onslaught on your senses.

“Sonali Cable persists on grabbing your attention by its collar, pulling it along into a world of curiously convincing characters whom you may or may not bump into while traveling in the local trains of Mumbai. But they sure as hell look like real people, except for the central character. Debutant Charudutt Acharya is a better writer than a director. His characters are must have appeared far more interesting on paper. But then, cinema is not about the written word only. It’s a lot more.
