The first look and teaser of Bal Thackeray’s biopic, Thackeray starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead role was released on Thursday.

The actor shared the teaser on his social media account. His post read, “It’s an honour and pride to portray the Real King of the Country on Screen. Here comes the TEASER of #Thackeray. Hearty Thanx to Shri @uddhavthackeray Sir, Shri @rautsanjay61, Shri @SrBachchan Sir and Abhijit Panse.”. The film will be directed by Abhijit Panse.

Bal Keshav Thackeray (23 January 1926 – 17 November 2012) was a cartoonist and Indian politician who founded the Shiv Sena. Written by journalist and Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut. The movie will be shot in Hindi and Marathi, and will be dubbed in English.

Nawaz has played numerous challenging and convincing characters before, and his look is Thackeray is another par excellence performance to watch out for. Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut announced a biopic on Bal Thackeray. The film is scheduled to release on January 23, 2019, the 93rd birth anniversary of Thackeray.
