The Black Prince, produced by Brillstein Entertainment, is a historic biopic on the poignant life story of the last King of Punjab – Maharajah Duleep Singh – also known as ‘The Black Prince’. The film is set for an international release on July 21, 2017.

Directed by Kavi Raz (Actor- Writer- Director), The Black Prince is a period drama, filmed widely across the UK and India. It chronicles Maharajah Duleep Singh’s lifelong struggle and daring journey of self-discovery in order to reclaim his identity, his faith, and the Kingdom that was rightfully his.

The film also explores his fragile relationship with Queen Victoria, who was Godmother to his children. It sheds light into his upbringing as an aristocrat in the UK who converts to Christianity under the influence of his foster parents, but later longs to return to his Kingdom, mother and roots.

The Black Prince stars Punjabi sinfer Satinder Sartaaj who makes his acting debut as Maharajah Duleep Singh – The Black Prince, veteran actor Shabana Azmi who performs the role of Rani Jindan, the exiled King’s mother, and Jason Flemyng (Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch fame)

The Maharajah was one the earliest freedom fighters for Indian independence, and is in fact the earliest known Indian freedom fighter from outside the country.
